Kauli Seadi
Sport: Windsurf

Being only 22 years old, the Brazilian windsurfer called Kauli Seadi was the winner of the PWA Circuit (Professional Windsurf Association) in 2005 in the Wave category. In 2006 he was vice-champion, but in 2007 he got the world title back by participating in all the finals and winning the first contest that happened in Imbituba, which was the Mormaii Ibiraquera Wave Contest.

In the 2008 season, Kauli maintained the World title, becoming the three-time champion of the PWA Tour in the Wave category. Out of the three competitions, he won the first one in Cabo Verde, which had the best wind and wave conditions.

He’s been competing as a professional for seven years, time in which he’s accumulated victories in stages in the categories Freestyle, Wave, Indoor e Super X.

As well as his personality, his windsurf style is irreverent. It matches fluidity and radicalism. He has created a few maneuvers and his relationship with the World Circuit is very serious. He aggressively competes in all stages always focusing on the victory.
He is sponsored by Mormaii and tests, in the most extreme situations, the quality of the wetsuits made in Garopaba (Brazil).

Kauli lives in Ibiraquera, Santa Catarina, where he became a kind of local idol. Many learners and starters already dream of sailing like Kauli and do the same maneuvers that he invented such as the “fair-play” and others. His favorite beaches to windsurf in Brazil are Ibiraquera and Camping da Barra (Florianopolis). Abroad, he practices in Hookipa (Maui/Hawaii).

His friendly fame goes further beyond the national border. All the participants of the World Circuit seem to like him and he is on the focus of the international media. Besides sailors of all ages, Kauli also gets attention from the girls, who consider him a handsome and friendly guy.

He has other hobbies, including: surfing with friends, practicing Yoga, taking care of the garden and other radical sports such as tow-in. Pictures of him flying high above the horizont have been published in more than a a dozen of specialized magazine covers, where he was the highlight of dozens of items, such as Windsurf, from England, Wind Magazine, from France, and Surf, from Germany.

His clean image and attitude are also presented by Mormaii on outdoors and in different pieces of publicity from the brand.

Kauli feels very comfortable with winds blowing at 70km/hour, when most of the athletes prefer to stay on land. Abroad, where windsurfing has its own space in the media, the young people who follow his performances, consider him exceptional.
For Kauli, more people in Brazil should follow his steps or at least practice windsurfing. “It’s a sport for the whole family” says the world champion windsurfer, who was born in “the country of soccer”.
