Many people associate the surf to a dangerous activity because it is a sport practiced in the ocean, which can sometimes be hostile.

In addition, the surfer is exposed to wind, sun, rain, cold waves, changes in currents, sharks, and several other elements.

Nevertheless, the surf is comparatively safe in relation to other sports, so you can (and should) practice surf smoothly, but taking some cares.

The truth is that the changes that the surf has been suffering since it began in Polynesia, has reduced more and more the risks.

In the next weeks the section “Surf & Saúde” will address the main lesions which are exposed surfers – and how best to prevent them and treat them.
