SUP Brazilian Championship Results in Brasilia (DF)

A Stand Up Paddle Championship Race that will remain in history. So is qualified this stage of the Brazilian Circuit held in the country’s capital city. It showed a very high level, mainly enriched by the presence of paddlers throughout Brazil who arrived with boards of different sizes. Besides the difficulty of paddling 12 km, guys had to face one of the driest days in Brasilia.

The overall champion was a paulista (SP) known as “Animal”. His name is Luiz Carlos Guido. With the first place obtained in Brasilia, he remains unbeaten in the Brazilian circuit.

According to the standards of the Brazilian Association of Stand Up Paddle, the Race 12 ’6” is the category that defines the Brazilian men and women’s champion of the speciality. Mo Freitas, runner up, and paulista Antonio Bonfá, third, accompanied “Animal” on the podium, followed by the cearense Araújo and the gaucho André Torelli

Among women Monica Pasco was the overall winner. Barbara Brazil was the runner-up, followed by Larissa Jardim. In the Master, for athletes over 40 years, Neno Matos was the winner. And in the Unlimited category, for equipment of all sizes, the winner was Savio Valverde, from Brasilia (DF).In the SUP Surf, men’s champion was Felipe Carvalho, and Karine Filadelpho was in women’s.

Mormaii was sponsoring this important event for the sport, held at the Paranoá Lake. Departure and arrival of the athletes in front of the Mormaii Surf Bar was another contributing detail for the success of the test performed Saturday 20/08.

With the Surf Session band playing rock hits and surf music, athletes coming from the race were greeted with a round of applause by the audience at the prestigious Mormaii Surf Bar. An excellent infrastructure was created to meet the athletes’ satisfaction with the best Japanese cuisine, fruits and beverages.

Sunday was the turn of the Starboard Challenge. Professional, amateur and beginner paddlers, in a short distance career, were divided into playoff batteries. All competitors used Starboard tables provided by the organization.

Despite not scoring points for the national ranking, this special competition called the attention with short and exciting struggles.

Monica Pasco and “Animal” Luiz Carlos Guido were also winners in women and men ‘s categories.

As the end of the Starboard Challenge, a Starboard SUP board was raffled among the participants. Athlete Gilson Alecrim , from San Pablo was the lucky winner.

The Brasilia stage of the Brazilian SUP Circuit Race Club was an event held together with Mormaii Katanka Club. The event was sponsored by Petrobras, MGarzon, Starboard, Movimento dos Sem Praia and the support of the Golden Tulip Hotel, Tempo Wind Clube SP, Clube das Nações, Iate Clube de Brasília, Cota Mil Iate Clube, Corpo de Bombeiros Militar do DF, Policia Militar do DF and Pontão do Lago do Sul

The next stage of the Brazilian Circuit will be October 01 and 02, in Fortaleza (CE).
